Towering Win In Blackpool

16 November 2019 - FY1 5QT - Blackpool - £30,000

Four people on a street in Blackpool are celebrating after scooping a cash prize of £30,000 each thanks to their lucky postcode. They landed the windfall when FY1 5QT was announced as a winner of Saturday's Street Prize.

Life-Changing Win

Grandmother-of-three Sandra, who is originally from Glasgow but has lived in Blackpool for 30 years, started to shake when she saw our Street Prize team walk up to her gate. She said, "This is just like a dream. I'm ecstatic that I started playing now - I never thought anything like this would ever happen to me!

"For the past few months I've been thinking of selling my house and downsizing to a nice new apartment to be nearer my two sons and grandchildren, but everything in my price range was a bit rubbish. This is life-changing for me because this is a dream that I never thought I'd be able to accomplish."

Sandra, who works as a sales assistant, was joined by two of her three sisters, Marlene and Mary, when she found out the good news. She said, "I lost my brother last year so it's nice to get some good news - the family are over the moon for me. I might treat myself to a holiday, I don't mind where as long as it's nice and hot. I'm going to have a fantastic time with this thirty-grand prize!"

Over The Moon

Her neighbour Lesley, a restaurant manager at a local hotel, was also among the winners. She said, "I've never won anything before so I'm over the moon and gobsmacked all at the same time. I've worked hard all my life, so this means the world to me and just means I won't have to struggle any more."

Lesley already has a few ideas for spending her windfall. She said, "I'd love to do the house up and then maybe go on holiday to Spain or Turkey. I've got three children and four grandchildren, so it's come in handy with Christmas coming around the corner."

The remaining winners couldn't be there to collect their cheques in person so their prize money will be paid into their bank accounts.

Presenting the Blackpool winners with their cheques was our Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt. She said, "There's no better feeling than handing over a big cheque and getting to see the smiles on our winners' faces. I hope Sandra, Lesley and our other lucky Blackpool players have a great time toasting their good luck!"

Good Causes Across Britain

It's not just People's Postcode Lottery players who benefit though. Our amazing players have raised more than £486 Million for good causes across Britain and around the world. 32% of the ticket price funds life-changing projects which make a difference to people and the planet.

This draw was promoted on behalf of Unicef UK, which has received more than £6.8 Million in player funding to help keep children across the world safe when war or disaster strikes.

Local charities win, too. The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Peace Foundation is one cause close to today's winners that players have supported. Earlier this year, it was awarded £20,000 for an early-intervention programme designed to help hundreds of kids, teachers and families handle conflict and build peace in schools, homes and communities.

With a little luck, we could be knocking on your door with a golden envelope just for you.

Elsewhere this weekend, five players received £30,000 cheques after winning Sunday's Street Prize.
