Celebrations For Chatham

19 September 2015 - ME5 9BS - Chatham - £25,000

Two lucky players in Chatham are celebrating this weekend after their postcode, ME5 9BS, was drawn in the Saturday Street Prize.

Bevan Harman, 50, was stunned when People's Postcode Lottery presenter Judie McCourt arrived at his doorstep to present him with his whopping £25,000 cheque.

"I'm ecstatic!" Bevan said. "We have a cruise to look forward to in six weeks so we'll have plenty of spending money now!"

Bevan, who works as a teacher, was excited to share the good news with his wife Cathy. "My wife was out when the team called, I can't wait for her to get home so I can show her the golden envelope," he said. "We'll definitely be celebrating this weekend.

Father of two, Bevan has a few ideas on how to spend his winnings. "I have a son and daughter to treat and we were considering converting the garage into another room so we might be able to do that now," he said. "I would also really like to give some money to a local animal charity, Rolvenden Cat Rescue. It's a really lovely charity and the couple who own it do so much."

Bevan's neighbour, John Harvey, was equally shocked to be presented with his £25,000 cheque. "I didn't expect to win anything," he said. "It'll come in very handy!"

John, 84, is keen to have a constant reminder of his win. "I'll have to put the cheque in a frame and hang it on the wall," he said.

People's Postcode Lottery players have raised over £82.9 Million for charities across Great Britain and internationally. One local project supported by players is Fort Amherst Heritage Trust and their Community Allotment Project. The project was awarded £4,000 from players to refurbish and replenish allotments that have existed since the early 19th Century. The programme provides manageable plots for the local community to grow fruit and vegetables.

People's Postcode Lottery presenter, Judie McCourt said, "I really enjoyed meeting Bevan and John today and presenting them with their cheques. They were both shocked to win and I hope they enjoy spending their money."
