Prizes Won In North Tawton
There will be celebrations over the weekend in North Tawton after two neighbours have scooped incredible prizes. One winner collected £30,000, while the other, who plays with two tickets, won a whopping £60,000.
The Webbs Orchard winners picked up the cheques when their postcode, EX20 2FE, was drawn as the winner of Saturday's Street Prize.
Retired police officer Geoffrey was in disbelief when his doorbell rang and he was presented with his £30,000 cheque. He said, "This is unbelievable - I'm absolutely over the moon!"
As well as treating his two children and three granddaughters, Geoffrey plans to spend the windfall on completing home improvements and some trips abroad. "My son's wife is from Japan and they've recently had a baby, so it would be really lovely to take the family over to Japan so her parents can meet their newest granddaughter! My wife Lindsay and I would also love to go to Australia and New Zealand – it's just amazing to know that's something we'll be able to do now!"
One of the reasons Geoffrey loves playing People's Postcode Lottery is because there are prizes every day. He said, "It's great that there are so many chances to win and I love that I'm helping to support good causes at the same time!"
Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson offered his congratulations, "Well done to our winners in North Tawton. I've loved coming to surprise Geoffrey with his cheque today so make sure you're signed up to play and it could be your door I'm knocking on!"
With 32% of the ticket price going to charity, players of People's Postcode Lottery have now raised £291 Million for over 4,000 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
Black Torrington Playing Field is one good cause close to the winners that players have helped support. The group was awarded £9,676 last year to create a community gym and purchase outdoor exercise equipment.
