Street Prize

Bonanza For Billinge

21 December 2018 - WN5 7TP - Billinge - £30,000

Ten neighbours in Billinge celebrated winning £360,000 between them when their postcode, WN5 7TP, was announced as the winner of our Street Prize today. Eight residents bagged £30,000 each, whilst two lucky winners doubled their cheques to £60,000 thanks to playing with two tickets.

Alan, whose wife Viv is living with a terminal cancer diagnosis, said that their prize winnings will allow them to create more memories and have fun with their family. He said, "It's a massive bonus to us as a family. We have so much to celebrate, our son Chris is getting married next weekend and this news is an unexpected extra. It will just allow us to make Christmas even more special this year for us and all the family. We're treating ourselves to a Caribbean cruise in the New Year and will now have a bit more spending money. Everybody always says it will never happen to you but it really does and we're thankful that it will let us do the things we want to do together."

Barbara has been playing for almost five years and last year, she convinced her husband Trevor to sign up too - meaning the couple won £30,000 each. Barmaid Barbara said, "This is absolutely fabulous - we were only expecting £1,000! I can't stop crying - I guess the drinks will be on me next time I'm working behind the bar!"

Trevor is keen to use the prize money to do up their home. He said, "I think we’ll use the money to do some home improvements. We've lived here for two years and haven't touched the place, but have always wanted to. I've been working hard for 25 years now so this money will go a long way."

Barbara added, "I'm just so thrilled that money is also going back to so many good causes. One of the main reasons I play is because I can never decide what charity to support and this way I can support them all!"

It was a family affair for Juliet and Darren, as Darren and his sister-in-law both scooped £30,000 each. Juliet plans to treat her two children, Sarah and Daniel. Juliet said, "Sarah just got married in August this year - it's probably for the best that the win came afterwards or she'd have wanted four donkeys and a Cinderella carriage! Jokes aside though, we'll definitely be giving them both a helping hand with the prize money.

"It's just such an amazing Christmas present for us all. We're such a close family so we will all be celebrating tonight - I don't think we will even sleep! We've got some big family birthdays coming up too so this will help go towards a big family holiday."

Heating Engineer Darren found out how much he won with his wife Mandy. Darren said, "It's a total shock and an incredible surprise. We have three big birthdays in the family next year - Mandy turns 50 and our children Ben and Naomi will be 18 and 21. We'll now be able to celebrate these in style, we love Portugal so will plan a special birthday getaway trip."

Delivery Driver Ian was also among the £30,000 winners. His wife Barbara was in to collect the cheque. She said, "We only started playing about a year ago, after my sister Susan was a winner in last year's St. Helen's Postcode Millions. To have won has been totally unexpected and it's felt like a dream. We've found out just in time for Christmas and will have a proper celebration for Ian's birthday this weekend."

Jean scooped an amazing £60,000 thanks to playing with two tickets. Jean only started playing around six weeks ago. She received her cheque with her daughter Gillian. Gillian said, "It's the best early Christmas present I could ever have asked for for mum. It's a lovely treat for her and has come at such a fantastic time of year."

Jean added, "It's a great amount of money and I feel really lucky to have won. I had wanted to play for a while and it was my grandson, Paul who helped me sign up. I'm planning on using my winnings to spoil my children and grandchildren this Christmas and I'll also treat myself to some designer clothes."

One postcode is being announced as a Street Prize winner every day throughout our December draws, netting those in the lucky postcode £30,000 for every ticket they play with.

People's Postcode Lottery Street Prize Presenters Jeff Brazier and Matt Johnson were spreading the festive cheer by presenting the winners with their cheques. Jeff said, "A huge congratulations to our winners in Billinge today - it's great to see so many neighbours winning together. It's safe to say they'll all have an extra-special Christmas this year!"

With 32% of the ticket price going to charities, our players have raised a staggering £371 Million for good causes. This prize was part of a draw promoted by the Royal National Institute of Blind People. This year alone, player support has helped to fund over 1,500 good causes. Those awards will be making a big difference in local communities around Britain.

Many local charities close to our winners have benefited from the funding raised by players, including Bloomingart. The group received £1,695 last year to run art sessions with older people, to reduce social isolation.

Next year, a fantastic £150 Million in prizes will be won by our players. If you've not subscribed yet, watch our video guide to find out How People's Postcode Lottery Works. If you're feeling lucky, why not sign up and play and we might have a cheque for you in 2019!
