Kidderminster's Quids In!
Winners are celebrating in Kidderminster after scooping cash windfalls with our August Postcode Millions. The Postcode Lottery team, including Jeff Brazier, were out and about on Friday knocking on doors and presenting cheques to some of our lucky winners. Other winners had their prize amount confirmed by letter in the post on Saturday morning.
The full winning postcode DY11 7RL was revealed on Friday evening. Only one lucky resident plays with the full winning postcode. Pet-sitter Joan collected the biggest cheque of the day - a whopping £182,962. She said, "This is beyond my wildest dreams. It's life changing.
"I haven't had a holiday since 2011 so I'd love to go away somewhere. It's my 60th birthday next year and I have relatives in Australia so I might go over there to celebrate - it's always been a dream of mine to go."
"I'm going to be practical with the money, too. My children have all grown up and are moving out now, so the house is feeling a bit big and needs some work done to it. I like being busy and don't intend to stop working but this means I've got a bit of a cushion."
Joan also talked about how the money raised by playing People's Postcode Lottery is important to her. She said, "I signed up originally because I had been donating to a number of charities and it seemed like an easy way to support a variety with just £10 a month. I volunteer at the local RDA who receive support so I know how big a difference it makes to them."
In total, 819 happy players across postcode sector DY11 7 shared the £3 Million prize fund. The remaining 818 winners shared the rest of the money. Players with a single ticket picked up a cheque for £3,098, those with two tickets collected £6,196, while winners with three tickets pocketed a thrilling £9,294.
People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Jeff Brazier said, "Congratulations to everyone in the postcode sector who has landed themselves nice big cheques today. It's amazing that so many people in the community have won a share. I hope they all enjoy spending it."
