Established in 2016, the Clooney Foundation for Justice (CFJ) fights for the rights of individuals unfairly targeted by oppressive governments through the courts.
CFJ believes that justice means fighting for the rights of individuals unfairly targeted by oppressive governments through the courts: this is what it does through the TrialWatch programme. It also works to expose corruption that fuels grave human rights violations through their other flagship initiative The Docket, which aims to trigger criminal prosecutions and civil claims against individual and corporate actors who profit from war crimes and human rights abuses.
CFJ has four main activities currently underway, including:
- TrialWatch, which aims to monitor, report on, and respond to trials around the world that post a high risk to human rights violations.
- Integrating Syrian refugee children into the Lebanese school system through "second shift" schooling.
- Resettling Syrian refugees in the US, and
- Tackling the rise of hate crime through independent legal advice.
CFJ is a strategic partner and supporter of The Sentry, which George Clooney co-founded.
With help from our players, CFJ will expand their support for monitoring trials to shine a light on miscarriages of justice and human rights violations around the world.
